The importance of helicopter ambulance in evacuation of patients and injured, evaluation of operations and the optimization of helicopter ambulance system

Air vehicles are undoubtedly the most advanced and fastest means of transportation today. Air Ambulance Planes and Helicopters can easily navigate in disaster situations (flood, earthquake, fire etc.), accidents and cases requiring emergency response, in various weather conditions, and can fly at high speed at low or high altitudes as needed. They can go to places that cannot be reached by land and sea, and the routes can be planned more flexibly in emergency medical evacuations by air compared to road and sea transportation. Ambulance aircraft and helicopters are used extensively in the world and in our country since 2008-2010 due to many advantages. In this research, the Helicopter Ambulance System was examined in the light of the available statistical information in order to reach the emergency cases that cannot be intervened in place with the available facilities (hospital, laboratory, doctor, medical team, equipment, etc.) and to transport the sick and injured to the appropriate hospitals on time (Golden Hour). Evaluations will be made regarding the review of the activities carried out so far and the optimization of the system in order to maintain it in the most efficient way. Aim; To raise awareness of all segments of the society, especially all healthcare personnel, about Air Ambulance Services, to react as soon as possible when needed, and to save the lives of the sick and injured by making the best use of time, which is one of the most important advantages of air transport. Without Air Ambulance Services; of course, it is not possible to predict how many of the 54.260 patients and wounded who have been transported by air so far will die while being transported by other means of transport or because they could not be transported for various reasons (land conditions, adverse meteorological conditions, distance, etc.). However, it can be easily said how vital this service is in the survival of thousands of people. Analyzing, understanding, supporting, and using this system in an efficient and effective way will be instrumental in saving many more lives that are likely to be lost.
