Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study, it was aimed to examine the fetal-maternal and fertility characteristics of Syrian women who gave birth in a hospital. In addition, in this study, antenatal follow-up status of Syrian women who gave birth in a hospital, their perinatal outcomes and pregnant women with risky conditions were evaluated. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted with 100 Syrian women who gave birth between 28 February 2022 and 11 April 2022 at the Health Sciences University (SBU) Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital Annex Building. In the study, the survey method was used to obtain the data. Participation of the participants in the survey was completed on a completely voluntary basis. Variables including hospital records related to socio-demographic characteristics, fertility characteristics, and fetal-maternal characteristics of the Syrians participating in the study were included. Results: While the mean age of the participants in this study was 26.55±5.47 years, it was determined that they lived in Turkey for an average of 5.48±1.63 years, 52 (52.0%) were primary school graduates, only 6 ( 6.0%) citizens, 52 (52.0%) have a medium income, 24 (24.0%) received social assistance with the Red Crescent card, 70% gave birth to their children by normal delivery and in a hospital, and only 36% of them had a family life. It was determined that they received prenatal care at their birth and their children's APGAR scores were normal. Conclusion: Regular follow-up and treatment of refugee pregnant women is important for both mother and baby health. Minimizing inequalities in pregnancy outcomes between Syrian refugees and Turkish women is a health priority. Attempts to reduce the barriers for immigrant women to access services related to reproductive health problems should not only be at the personal and institutional level, but should also cover the country's general health policies and strategies.
