Abstract (EN)

Pneumatic tube transportation systems (PTS) are used widely nowadays due to their advantages in time and speed of transport. However, it is not clear if PTS has an influence on blood elements. The purpose of this study is to find out whether transportation of samples with PTS has an impact on routine blood count tests, coagulation and sedimentation tests. For this study, a selection of samples from 17 male and 28 female patients from various age groups and hospitals were transported with different methods to examine the effect of distance and transportation mean on blood samples. As conclusion, it has been shown that PTS causes no statistically significant impact on samples, as well as different nature of tests as blood count tests, sedimentation, PT and aPTT tests. Therefore it can be concluded that PTS is a safe mean of transportation of blood samples. However, the maintenance and calibration of PTS has to be done regularly on time, as unpunctuality may cause hemolysis and alteration in some biochemical and hemotological parameters. Nevertheless, PTS provides great advantages for hospital and lab staff due to its power and security. Key Words: aPTT tests, blood count tests Pneumatic tube systems, PT, sedimentation.
