Abstract (EN)
Biological rhythm is cyclical variations in body temperature, sleep-wake cycle, physical activity, eating patterns, physiological and behavioral functions modulated by the circadian clock. Organisms have a 24-hour internal rhythm pattern. The shift system causes disruption of the circadian rhythm and affects the timing of meals, food preferences and sleep patterns of individuals. This research; This study was conducted to determine the effect of differences in the nutritional status of cabin attendants due to the change in circadian rhythm. The research was conducted on 217 volunteer female flight attendants (hostesses) aged between 20-45, who were not pregnant or breastfeeding, working at an airline company in Istanbul between February 2023 and April 2023. In order to collect data on personal characteristics and dietary habits of flight attendants, survey questions were applied to volunteer participants via the online system(Google-forms).The Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ) Morning- Evening scale was used to evaluate the circadian rhythm. Nighttime fasting is reduced and access to unhealthy foods is facilitated. Due to the disruption of the circadian rhythm, the night fasting period decreases and access to unhealthy foods is facilitated. According to the chronotype classification of the participants, the most frequent meal skippers are the group "close to the evening type". Adults with the evening chronotype are more prone to skipping meals and unhealthy eating habits compared to the morning chronotype. Bagels, pies, etc. There is a significant difference in terms of consuming products, morning-evening groups. In the evening meals, alcohol and chocolate intake is higher, and the preference of fruit-vegetable and whole grain foods is lower.insomnia, night eating syndrome, poor quality sleep, irregular eating increase the risk of obesity. As a result, it was determined that chronotype types affect the sleep quality, eating behaviors and food choices of individuals.
