Water mites (hydrachnidia: acari) fauna of hazar lake and behremaz stream (Elazığ) and their seasonal distribution

Totally, it has been found 39 species belong to 12 families. Of these, 26species belong to 9 families from Hazar Lake and 24 species belong to 10 families fromBehremaz Stream. Arrenurus (s.str.) distans is a new record for the Turkish fauna and A. (s.str)robustus, A. (Micruracarus) novus, A. (Megaluracarus) globator and Tiphys ornatus are newrecords for Elazığ province. The female of Arrenurus (s.str.) demirsoyi is described for the firsttime. Thus, the number of water mite species in Elazığ province have been reached 56.Georgella helvatica, Hydryphantes (s.str) dispar and Eylais extendens are recorded from HazarLake and A. (s.str.) albator, A. (s.str.) bruzelii, A.(s.str.) demirsoyi, A. (s.str.) ayyildizi, A. (s.str)cuspidifer, A. (s.str.) cuspidator, A. (s.str.) tricuspidator, A. (Micruracarus) sinuator,Hygrobates (s.str.) fluviatilis, Hydrodroma despiciens, Sperchon setiger, Pionopsis lutescens,Neumania deltoides and Mideopsis orbicularis from Behremaz Stream for the first time.Furthermore, it has been emphasized the index of species diversity and frequency analysis,monthly and seasonal distribution. The morphological characters, measurements of variousorgans, habitats and distributions on the world and Turkey of all determined species have beengiven.Key words: Acari, Hydrachnidia, Fauna, Hazar Lake, Behremaz Stream, Water mites,Seasonsal distribution.
