Ready to wear women's clothing lower- upper body size differences and the issues which arise from non- conformances

The purpose of this study focuses on women and the differences in body sizes when purchasing apparel and clothing products and the issues which may arise.The method of research for this study was focused within the province of Ankara. 385 women which reside in Ankara participated willingly and were selected at random.The data was obtained via a questionnaire. An expert opinion poll was prepared; this included the pilot and the actual implementation which was carried out in two steps.The data was obtained using measurements of numerical values and percentages. These findings were then calculated using SPSS 15.0 statistical analysis program. The data used within this study comprised of the subjects age, educational background, number of births (if any), upper and lower body measurements along with width and length measurement with ready to wear clothing, form and nature of the model was also taken into consideration and the problems which arose between these relationships. Statistical correlation and analysis was used for the measurement of x². The result of this analysis, where a significant level was evaluated equalled to P<0.05.The findings; body measurements of women with disproportionate figures according to clothing products such as apparel, suits / of two-piece dresses, jackets, skirts and pants outlined that the main issues were of narrow hip circumference measurements. Pant length in relation to being too long or too short especially when sitting down was also determined. Consumers when purchasing two-piece suits with a wider hip circumference were able to find the suitable size in regards to pants or skirts however this resulted in the suit jacket or upper body item to be too large. Another problem which was faced by the subjects with disproportionate body measurements was of trousers being too tight along the back.The solution to the problems that women face when purchasing two-piece suits was to shop at stores which provided alteration services. Another solution which was preferred by many of the women in this study was to have their purchased items altered by professional tailors according to their exact body measurements.According to the result of the research; in general, becoming a long length pants, shorter of the height of sitting, draws attention to problems such as the back of the network is strained. Manufacturers to address these problems, data collection, the way consumers increasingly make the necessary adjustments would be beneficial for the solutions of these problems. Waste, the prevention of waste of time and to ensure costumer satisfication can address these needs through a special bodied cancelled productions, recommendations have been developed.
