Abstract (EN)

Although the catering sector is a substantial area in terms of the food industry and the capaciousness of workers, as the majority of accidents are individually simple lacerations resulted from the ignorance of occupational health and safety, it appears as an area of insignificance in occupational health and safety. This research was conducted to reveal the knowledge and awareness level of occupational health and safety of people of different ages, genders, and socioeconomic levels working in the catering sector. Within the scope of the research, a questionnaire was applied to 160 people working in 8 different businesses, and as a result of the research, the occupational health and safety knowledge level of the employees was generally sufficient. Also, the relationship between employees' fatalism understanding and demographic characteristics was examined. As a result of the research, it is considered that although the catering industry is in the "Less Dangerous" class, it would be appropriate to evaluate the work related to occupational health and safety regardless of the hazard class. It is considered that it will contribute to the development of occupational health and safety awareness in the sector and to reduce the fatalism of employees to an acceptable level.
