Abstract (EN)
Bridges are crucial components of our transportation system and pricey highway hydraulic structures. One of the risky issues in river engineering is erosion induced by the flow around the piers of these structures in alluvial streams, and the scour around bridge piers is one of the circumstances that has drawn a lot of attention. Numerous bridge collapses have happened as a result of the weakening of their foundations. In this study, we used the (HEC-RAS) program in order to simulate previous practical experiments and demonstrate the possibility of using the program to learn about scouring around bridge piers, and compared the results of the program (HEC-RAS) with the results of scouring for practical experiments. The greatest value of scouring for the (HEC-RAS) programmed was (50) mm at a diameter of (50) mm and a discharge of (40) l/sec, while the lowest value was (30) mm at a diameter of (25) mm and a discharge of (20) l/sec, and the percentage of increase being in scoring (40%). The maximum values for scouring and the lowest values were at the same diameters and discharge for simulation (63 - 25) mm, respectively, in the real experiments for which the simulated process was run on the programmed. In addition, at the pavement with a diameter of (25) mm, the increase in discharge from (20 to 40) liters / second led to the stability of scouring (30) mm, and the scouring depth increased from (40 to 50) mm at the pier with a diameter of (50). mm, that is, the percentage of increase was equal to (20%), we conclude that the increase in the diameter of the pier and the increase in flow leads to an increase in the depth of scouring.
