Abstract (EN)
One out of every eleven women in the world dies from cancer. Cancer can occur genetically, as well as environmental factors and a person's quality of life trigger cancer. In the treatment of cancer, in addition to modern medical techniques such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the search for more effective treatments continues. In this study, the effect of tick saliva on cancer cell lines was evaluated in vitro. For this purpose, the effects of saliva secretion obtained from ticks of the genus Hyalomma aegyptium on cell viability, proliferation and anti-cancer properties on HeLa cell lines were investigated. As a result of MTT analysis, cell viability was found to be 42.68% and 34.02%, respectively, in cultures treated with 40 µg and 60 µg sterile tick saliva applied to the HeLa cell line. All applied samples were stained with AO/PI and evaluated using a fluorescent microscope in order to confirm the detected cell deaths. HEK293T cells with normal cell characteristics were used as the control group and the anti-cancer effect of salivary secretion obtained from H.aegyptium ticks was determined.
