Abstract (EN)

Halal Food Certification is a certification process that has been implemented since 2005 in Turkey and it is discussed on different platforms and with topics since then. The subject of this study is, one of the discussion topics of "Halal Food Certification" that whether it should be implemented in the domestic market in Türkiye or not? In this study, the arguments of the parties arguing and opposing HGS in a live television program will be analyzed with the Political Discourse Analysis method of Fairclough and Fairclough, and it will be searched that whether it is possible to create insight for the ground for a compromise between the two parties? Although the Halal Food Certificate is derived from a religious concept, the discussion between the parties is mostly focused on human rights and the marketization of a sacred concept. Although the parties seem to be in deep disagreement due to their very different religious and world views, as well as their technical and scientific infrastructures, it seems possible that a compromise ground can be established.
