The evalution of emphatic tendenci̇es and emphatic abilities of nurses/midwives (Denizli Servergazi State Hospital)

The people who establish empathy enter into better relationships with their environment and have less conflicts in terms of their interpersonal relationships. Judging another person stems from lack of empathy. Lack of empathy in communication leads to conflicts, disintegrations and infightings among the people. Establishing empathy requires to accept other people as they are. Accepting people as they are provides an intimacy between the person who establishes empathy and the person with whom empathy is established. Empathy leads to the decreases of distances among people. The concept of empathy has been used often in scientific researches that have been made for the sake of solution of social problems recently. The studies made emphasize the significance of establishing empathy in order to communicate impressively in interpersonal relationships. It is important to esteem a person and make him feel that he is considered important in terms of an impressive communication. Empathy is the precondition to comprehend the meaning of life, make a healthy contact with people and most especially have a happy life. A person who is able to establish empathy has fruitful interactions with the people whom he communicates. Empathy is necessary in terms of the agreement among people who possess different personality types. Besides this, empathy enables people who have different culture to live together. Living peacefully with all the people whose religion, language, race and colour are different is possible with the help of an empathic perspective. The disease, for reasons such as an individual's personal care on behalf of individuals in situations that he cannot do this, assumes the responsibility of nurses. Therefore the human element of nursing/midwifery profession basis.
