The relationship between contextual performance levels of nurses and their attitudes towards professional

This study was conducted in a descriptive and cross-sectional form to evaluate the relationship between nurses' contextual performance levels and their attitudes towards professional autonomy. In the study, whose sample consisted of 296 nurses who agreed to participate in the research between December 2022 and January 2023 in a university hospital, a questionnaire with demographic questions, Attitudes towards Professional Autonomy for Nurses Scale and Contextual Performance Scale (BPÖ) were used. SPSS 22.0 Program was used in data analysis. Results were evaluated at p<0.05 significance level. In the study, it was seen that the mean score of the "Contextual Performance Scale" Personal Support sub-dimension of the nurses participating in our study was 103.47±11.77, the mean organizational support score was 74.41±14.58 and the total score average was 177.78±22.64, so the Contextual Performance levels of the nurses were above the average. "Attitudes Towards Professional Autonomy Scale for Nurses" job-related independence sub-dimension mean score of 19.22±3.94, control over working conditions sub-dimension mean score of 27.40±4.93, autonomous clinical decisions sub-dimension mean score of 23.20±4.17 and total score mean of 69.84±10.61 Therefore, it has been observed that the attitudes of nurses towards Professional Autonomy are above the average. In the comparison of the scales, it was seen that there was a weak positive correlation between the Personal Support sub-dimension, the Organizational support sub-dimension and the total mean score of the Contextual Performance Scale and the work-related independence sub-dimension, the autonomous clinical decisions sub-dimension and the total score average of the Attitudes Toward Professional Autonomy for Nurses.
