Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study was conducted in order to determine the effectiveness of aromatherapy applied to nursing students for exam anxiety. Material and Methods: The research was conducted as a randomized semi-experimental study between November 2021 and February 2022, with 42 second grade students studying at Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Nursing. The data were collected with personal information form and exam anxiety inventory (SKE). In the analysis of the data, Skewness, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO), Bartlett and Cronbach's Alpha (α) were examined and descriptive statistics, Chi-Square test, related sample T-test, independent sample T-test and One Way ANOVA analysis were performed. In all tests, the condition of determining the p value less than 0.05 was sought for statistical significance (p<0.05). Results: It was found that the average of the SKE score of the students in the experimental group decreased significantly. Clove oil ve lavender oil scores reduced the average scores at the same level. Conclusion In this study, it was concluded that aromatherapy reduced the level of exam anxiety of nursing students. With this research, it is thought that aromatherapy should be included in nursing education and will be guiding other studies. Keywords: Anxiety, Aromatherapy, Exam, Nursing, Student.
