The impact of aquarium water at different concentrations on growth and quality parameters of pansies (Viola tricolor)

In this study, the possibilities of using fish manure to be obtained from lakes and ponds in urban parks in parks and green areas were investigated. For this purpose, the set up consisting of wild pansy (Viola tricolor L.) plant and goldfish (Carassius auratus L.) was tested in laboratory environment at Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Forestry. Wild pansy seedlings were transferred to 0.5 L pots consisting of a 3/1 ratio of peat + perlite mixture. 10 goldfish, whose weights and heights were approximately the same, were grown in a glass aquarium with a volume of 50 liters. In the experiment, the fish fertilizer obtained directly from the aquarium water was compared with the control medium with NPK fertilizer at 7 different levels (0%, 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%). The experiment was carried out according to the randomized plot design with 4 replications. At the end of the study, the differences between the plants using aquarium water and the control plants in terms of aesthetic appearance score, number of flowers, plant height, plant fresh and dry weight of the wild pansy plant were found to be statistically significant. In addition, the plant nutrients nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), copper (Cu) and manganese (Mn) are controlled by plants using aquarium water. The differences between the plants were found to be statistically significant. However, there was no statistical difference between them in terms of zinc (Zn). It has been reported that the quality and growth parameters of the violet plant increase depending on the amount of aquarium water. In conclusion, it is estimated that the parks will be able to obtain their own organic fertilizers for wild pansy and similar plant with the mechanism to be prepared from the lakes and ponds in which the fish are found.
