Hilmi Ziya Ülken's understanding of Islamic philosophy and studies

Ziya Ülken (1901-1974) is one of the important intellectuals of the Republican period who studied on Islamic philosophy.Unlike the concept of the period, it did not only give the necessary importance to the field of Islamic philosophy, but also revealed basic works in order to continue the studies related to this field.In the context of the history of contemplation, he sought to connect the past with the present by thinking that we owe it to Islamic thought and that we cannot ignore it.the aim of our study is to evaluate Ülken's understanding of Islamic philosophy and his studies.In the first section, we tried to examine the reflection of the complex and irregular structure of the period in which he lived on Ülken's views of Islamic philosophy and how it was interpreted. in the second section, we discussed its naming, scope and originality in terms of the nature of Islamic philosophy, as well as its translation and its influence on the west, which was important at the beginning of Islamic philosophy in the historical process. In the third section , the effect of on concept of Turkishess on the views of İslamic philosohy, we based his problematic views on the teaching of Ghazali, tradition and Islamic philosophy in terms of its influence on philosophy.Finally, we wanted to show how comprehensive and important works he did in this field by giving chronological order of his works on Islamic philosophy such as books, articles, newspaper articles, magazines and book introductions.
