The effect of hypertensive disorder on prenatal attachment and pregnancy acceptance

Objective: This study was conducted to examine the effect of hypertensive disorder in pregnancy on prenatal attachment and acceptance of pregnancy in last trimester pregnant women. Material And Method: The research was conducted in the analytical, cross-sectional casecontrol type. The study was carried out with 152 pregnant women who applied to Erzurum Atatürk University Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic and Gynecology and Obstetrics Polyclinic between June 2020 and September 2021. Research data were collected with "Personal Information Form", "Prenatal Attachment Inventory (PAI)" and "Prenatal Self Assessment Scale-Acceptance of Pregnancy Sub-Scale (PSAS-AP)". In the analysis of the data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Levene, Mann Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, Dunn-Bonferroni Pearson's χ2, Continuity corrected χ2 or Fisher Freeman Halton tests were used. Results: In this study, the total PSAS-AP index score average of the case group (26.0±7.8) was found to be statistically significantly higher than the control group (19.4±3.9). The fact that the total PSAS-AP index score average in the case group was high decreased the level of pregnancy acceptance. The mean PAI score of the pregnants in the case group (61.9±10.8) was found to be statistically significantly lower than the pregnants in the control group (70.1±8.2). In addition, it was observed that the level of acceptance of pregnancy decreased in parallel with the prenatal attachment levels of the pregnants in the case and control groups. Conclusion: Pregnancy acceptance and prenatal attachment levels of pregnant women with hypertensive disorder during pregnancy were found to be lower than those without. In addition, it was concluded that prenatal attachment levels decreased in parallel with the acceptance of pregnancy levels compared to all pregnant women.
