Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the correlation of allergen-specific in vitro IgE levels in cats diagnosed with hyperthyroidism with different clinical findings, and to determine the correlation between endocrine disorders. The contents of the thesis consisted of dermatological, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular findings in Aydın Adnan Menderes University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, which were compatible with hyperthyroidism. According to the diagnostic studies, cats with hyperthyroidism in the first group (n = 9) and healthy cats in the second group (n = 14). V-check (Vcheck V200, Bionote, Korea: ELK Diagnostic, Turkey) device and total T4 (TT4) levels were measured in order to exclude other diseases related to the disease. In the cats in both groups, 0.2 ml blood samples were taken from Vena cephalica antebrachii to anticoagulant serum tubes. After centrifugation, 20 different allergen specific Ig E levels were determined by Polycheck allergy test (Biocheck, Germany: RDA Group, Turkey). Based on in vitro test results D. farinae (P=0.000), D. pteronyssinus (P=0.000), Malassezia (P=0.000), Lepidoglyphus (P=0.013), Aspergillus-Penicillium (P=0.019), Ragweed (Ambrosia) (P=0.000), birch/alder/hazel (P=0.009), plantane/willow/poplar (P=0.000), Parietaria (Wall pellitory) (P=0.000), rye pollen (P=0.002), grass-mix (P=0.003), stinging nettle (P=0.000), lambs quarter (P=0.000), plantain (P=0,001), mugwort (P=0,000), sorrel (P=0,000), Acarus siro (P=0,000), Tyrophagus (P=0,000), flea (P=0,000) were statistically significant differences between P values of healthy cats and hyperthyroid cats in terms of specific IgE concentrations. In this study, it was seen that some of the cats included in the control group (n=14) developed IgE response to various allergens, but this was lower in comparison with the cats with hyperthyroidism. In conclusion, it can be said that different allergens in hyperthyroid cats may be associated with disease activity and based on serum total T4 levels and allergy test results.
