Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the physical-physiological characteristics and percentage of body fat of old people staying at rest home in consequence of twelve weeks recreational activities. Subject group (16 women, 15 men) who want to join recreational activities between 20 th December 2012 and 14 th March 2013 with control group(16 women , 15 men ) who don't want to join recreational activities staying at rest home compose this study.62 old people was settled as a study group including 16 women and 15 men in subject group and 16 women ,15 men in control group. Physiological (fat measurements, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, vertical jump, flexibility, right-left hand grip strength) and physical (height, weight) parameters of old people who joined the measurements were compared by depending the recreational activity programs of them. The demographic characteristics of the old people were evaluated with the permission of the Etimesgut Municipality. As demographic characteristics name, surname, gender, date of birth, place of birth, occupation, as anthropometric characteristics height, weight, fat measurement, physiological features systolic and diastolic blood pressure, vertical jump, heart rate, flexibility, right-left hand grip strength measurements was taken from old people. In the measurements a skinfold (Holtain) that provides 10 g / m sg pressure, a scale having a weight of 0.1 kg arm, a tape measure having 0.1C degree of precision and inelastic flexible 7 mm. wide and Takei Handgrip were used. T-test was performed to determine the differences between the two groups at a significance level a = 0.05, for two independent groups with the SPSS 17.00 program. The test results showed that there was no significance difference between physical p> 0.05, Physiological p> 0.05, and Body Fat Percentage of p> 0.05 of the old people who joined to the recreational activities and who didn't. Even if there were no differences between some measurements, recreational activities are not statistically significant for the old people on physical-physiological and body fat percentage but it indicates that recreational activities have a positive effect on physical, physiological and body fat percentages of old people who joined. Key Words: Elderliness, Recreation, Anthropometric, Physiological Measurement
