Abstract (EN)

In our region, corn silage is made as first (August) and second crop (September-October). There are climatic differences between harvest periods ( I-II ). Temperature is an important factor for silage quality and fermentation process. Therefore, it is aimed to periodically investigate the effects of temperature on package silages. Trials have been carried out for vacuum packaged silages which have gained particular importance in recent years. In this study; In order to determine the temperature changes occurring in vacuum-type packaged silages, different harvesting periods (I. crop and II.crop), storage conditions (storage under a controlled environment-A, storage under a shade environment-B and storage under the sun-C) and low density polyethylene used for packaging (LD-PE) types of plastic bags were tested. In the study, temperature sensors were placed in the vacuum-type package silages which were able to record data continuously and the temperatures were recorded for fermentation and storage periods. At the end of the storage period, the samples taken from the package silages; Water soluble carbohydrate (WSC), pH, dry matter (DM), ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-N) and sensory analysis were performed. DLG scoring and FLİEG scoring were calculated. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the temperature values had a significant effect on the quality of the silages made in different harvesting periods (I. crop-II. crop). In particular, in the first crop (I); The storage conditions and the properties of the packaging materials used in the production of package silage were found to be important in terms of silage quality. In the first crop silage production, the in-package temperature (at the fermentation and storage stage) reached high values of 47-49 oC due to the periodic effects, while this value was 10.5-12 oC in the second crop. Types of bags used in trials; The products that should not be preferred for use in the I. crop while the II. crop has been used for packaging purposes. Generally, Flieg and DLG scoring of the second crops in the silages were higher than the first crop. According to the results of the study; it is suggested that the first crop vacuum-type package silages should be stored under shade (in storage condition B) in order to have high quality content.
