Ibn Khaldun's thought of human being and the concept of civilization

Ibn Haldun who is a thinker exhibits original ideas in many ways from politics to economy and from education and history. In this study, it is aimed to introduce Ibn Khaldun?s human thought and perception of civilization. The thesis content was constructed in this perspective. This study consists of three main sections. In the intorduction section, information about the aim of the study, subject, method, literatureand general information about Ibn Khaldun?s life is given. The main section which information and findings are discussed consists of three sub-title. In the first sub-section; human thought is discussed in a general perpective and Ibn Khaldun?s thought of human beeing, the features of human being and different types of human being according to Ibn Khaldun was discussed. In the second sub-section; the perception of civilization is discussed in a general perspective too. In this section, the basic elements of Ibn Khaldun?s concept of civilzation, other basic concepts of civilization, different patterns of civilization, the relation between city and civilization, different theories, like organismism, social instuitions in civic societies were interpreted. In the third sub-section the literature about Ibn Khaldun in Muslim World and in the West and his impacts in western countries is given. In the last part, findings are discussed and bibliography is given. In the current study, litrature rewiev and content analysis method were used. In this context, Ibn Khaldun?s studies especially the Muqaddimah was used as the main source. There are differences in the various editions of the Mugaddimah. In this study, Muqaddimah, which was translated by Suleyman Uludag and printed in Istanbul was used as the main source.
