Abstract (EN)

The spatial and physical formation of cities emerge depending on social environment that reflects human-made environment and life style as well as natural environments like the climate, topography, water resources. These environments, in fact, are dynamics which affect the morphology of location, that is, form of location. These dynamics designate not only the forms of exclusive city settlement but also the forms of rural settlement. In recent years, rural areas have been evacuated by the intense migration movements from rural areas to cities due to reasons such as the labor demand of the cities, the mechanization of agriculture, changing living conditions and education. Therefore, the rural architectural heritage in the vacant villages lose their originality either due to neglect or bad construction. Within the scope of this thesis, which aims to reveal the traditions, cultures, original settlement and building textures of the rural architecture, it has been aimed to reveal the settlement morphology of the rural settlements selected as examples from the past to the present, the dynamics affecting this morphology and the building typologies. The theme of the thesis is composed of twelve villages of the Wild Turkmen Tribe in Central Anatolia, which set an example for rural architecture. Within the scope of the study, literature and field studies have been carried out. Then, the area settlement and building determinations and interviews with the people living in the villages. In the literature study, historical researches were made about the conceptual framework and the area, and aerial photographs and population information of the past years have been obtained from the relevant institutions. Subsequently, settlement and structure detections have been made through field work. With the data obtained, the settlement morphologies and building typologies of the villages have been revealed through analysis. As a result, the inventory of the villages belonging to the Wild Turkmen Tribe in the context of cultural heritage has been prepared by making today's detections and a base has been formed for future conservation studies. 2023, xxvii + 217 Pages Keywords: Rural architecture, settlement, morphology, typology, Yabanlı Turkmen Tribe
