Abstract (EN)

Industrial revolution has created high need for volume raw materials oriented to production in the world markets, hence it necessitate continious and economic transportation facilities. Increasing shipping requirements bring inland waterway transportation, to forefront which use production and distribution networks effective and dynamic way and it causes common usage of inland waterway transportation especially in Europe. In respect of Turkey, inland waterway transportation is included in developing transportation systems yet. In order to improve inland waterway transportation it is needed to make regulations on current waterway infrastructure, building dam or lock in case of disrepancies of water levels and specific transport vehicles. In this study, Güzelhisar River is designed for inland waterway transportation, analyzed its convenience by comparisons with the samples of the world for Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone and a model proposal is developed. Within the scope of engineering design of the channel, which is thougt to be build on Güzelhisar Stream; its waterway class has been determined by taking into consideration of international standards, stream improvement is done according to the chosen channel cross-section and reference vessel has been determined.
