Socio-economic analysis of inner migraton phenomenon through rural youth: Example of Taurus mountain villages

The aim of this study is to reveal to what extent the migration inclinations and reasons of the young people who migrated from the village to the urban and the expectations of the young people who migrated to the urban were met and to provide suggestions that can keep young people in rural and ensure development in rural areas. The main material of the study was composed of primary data obtained through individual interviews with rural youth living in Taurus mountain villages in Adana province and focus group interviews with young people who migrated from these villages. In this study, it was determined that 77.5% of the youth tend to migrate from rural to urban. The most important finding of the study is that migration from rural to urban will continue and the young population prefer the instead of living in the village in case of income earning.
