Abstract (EN)

In this study, midstream urine samples were taken from 100 patients with urinary tract infections hospitalized in Al-Hussein Research and Al-Rifai Research Hospitals between November 2020 and June 2021, and the presence of Staphlococcus aureus in these samples was investigated. Staphlococcus aureus was found in 20 of 100 samples taken. Susceptibility tests were performed for methicillin, penicillin G, ampicillin, cephalexin and oxacillin antibiotics. Staphlococcus aureus bacterial isolates were treated with vitamin C solution prepared at various concentrations (5, 10, 20, 30 μg/mL). Changes in susceptibility, treatment and resistance mechanisms to the antibiotics determined by this procedure were determined. In addition, the amount of biofilm formation was measured and the Tn552 gene was determined molecularly. The results of the polymerase chain reaction and the phenotypic results of the bacteria were determined to be compatible. Polymerase chain reaction results for the Tn552 gene were determined as 100% in all isolates before treatment with vitamin C and after treatment with vitamin C concentrations of 5 and 10 µg/mL. The rate was found to be 40% at 20 μg/mL vitamin C concentration.
