Abstract (EN)
The share of Turkish dialect studies is quite large in illuminating numerous subjects of Turkish cultural elements that have remained in the dark and in accessing valuable data about national memory of the language. Although a long distance has been covered in our country in terms of dialect studies, there still are dialect regions requiring examination. As the studies on dialects of Anatolian Turkish have not been completed, Anatolian Turkish dialect atlas has not yet been produced. Since no doctoral study covering both the center of Iğdır and its 3 counties has been conducted, it is important to conduct this doctoral dissertation with the title, "Dialects of Iğdır Province" and to determine the groups of the subdialects of the province. Under the title "Dialects of Iğdır Province" this doctoral dissertation includes chapters of "Introduction," "Phonologic Guide," "Morphological Guide," "Result," "Text," and "Glossary;" and it aims to identify dialect groups of Iğdır province and to examine phonologic and morphologic characteristics of dialects spontaneously and from time to time diachronically, based on the texts collected from the dialect region. In this direction, the boundaries of Iğdır dialect region are determined and two subdialects are identified as Iğdır Azerbaijani subdialect and Iğdır Terekeme subdialect. The transcribed texts are kept attentive to representing the whole province of Iğdır. The distinctive phonologic and morphological characteristics of the dialect of the region are examined in comparison with the Received Turkish; these characteristics are compared with the dialects of the other regions when the occasion has arisen. In the chapter named "Glossary" words in the texts which carry considerable phonetic and semantic difference from the Received Turkish are listed alphabetically with line numbers.
