Idioms in terms of structure and semantic in Ihsan Oktay Anar's novel Efrâsiyâb'in Hikâyeleri

In this thesis, the idioms found in İhsan Oktay Anar's novel Efrâsiyâb'ın Hikâyeleri are examined in terms of their semantic and structural features. The identified idioms are classified under various headings according to their structural characteristics, and their meanings are explained separately. Before the analysis, the relationships between idioms and proverbs, as well as other elements of the lexicon, are also discussed. In the classification, the idioms are listed alphabetically, and for each entry, the meaning of the idiom is provided along with an example sentence and the page number on which it appears. The study also includes theoretical information about idioms, their characteristics, and previous research conducted in this field. In addition, attention is given to the reasons why idioms are often confused with proverbs. Apart from the Introduction and Conclusion, the study consists of two main chapters. In the Introduction, the topic, significance, aim, method, and limitations of the research are addressed, and the concept of the idiom is discussed in detail. The First Chapter provides information about the author's life, literary persona, and works. The Second Chapter offers a structural and semantic analysis of the idioms found in Efrâsiyâb'ın Hikâyeleri. The findings obtained from the analysis are presented in the Conclusion section.
