Abstract (EN)

The Ottoman Empire was at a very advanced level in the field of health, as in every field. In the field of mental health, a holistic treatment was applied along with physical health. Since it was thought that mental illnesses were caused by increased sovda hilt in the body, the aim was to remove this excess hilt from the body. Many treatment methods such as music, scent, and occupation were used. The patient was wanted to regain his health both physically and spiritually. Taking care of people's health in the context of preventive medicine was the most important issue for Ottoman Medicine.
