Abstract (EN)
The purpose of external politics conducted by II. Kılıç Arslan was to provide the statute of being an independent state to Türkiye Seljuks State which was established in Anatolian geography as a vassalage of the Great Seljuks Empire. The study is limited by the years of II. Kılıç Arslan?s ruling period (1155-1192) in Türkiye Seljuks State. First-hand and second-hand sources are used in this study. The sources of the period are primarily analysed in themselves and then by comparing with current scrutinning sources, events are interpreted in the light of the current informations with external political views.This study, in which we review a 37 year reign beginning with the II. Kılıç Arslan?s accession to the throne in 1155, consists of an introduction and three other parts. These political activities conducted by II. Kılıç Arslan set him apart from his predecessors and this political maneuvers became a turning point for Türkiye Seljuks State. In his time, as a result of the successful struggles at home and abroad, the state gained stability, consequently the state entered a period of development in all areas.Thanks to the Miryokefalon victory won in 1176, the process of Anatolia?s Turkification gained an important momentum. The Turks who began to settle in Anatolia with 1071 Malazgirt victory, insured Anatolia as a Turkish land after Miryokefalon victory for certain.The political hegemony of Anatolia changed hands from Byzantine to Seljuks in the period of II. Kılıç Arslan. Thus, the conquest of Anatolia and the movement of Turkification gained momentum.Key Words: II. Kılıç Arslan, the Seljuks, Miryokefalon, Policy, Stability
