Abstract (EN)

This master's thesis analyses the fundamental role of the first language in bilingual language development. It is emphasised that the first language forms a decisive basis for the acquisition and development of a second language and exerts influences on language comprehension, cognitive development, as well as identity formation. The significance of promoting a child's first language is emphasised, as it strengthens cultural identity and contributes to a significant increase in linguistic competence. This work focuses on the linguistic framework conditions and special characteristics of Turkish migrants in Germany, particularly the newer generations with languages that have features related to bilingualism. In this context, the master's thesis highlights the importance of considering the first language in the educational context to promote linguistic and cultural integration. The results demonstrate that a well-founded promotion of the first language in a bilingual environment is crucial not only for individual development but also for the social integration of migrants. Overall, these findings could enhance the effectiveness of language support measures for migrants and facilitate a better general comprehension of the first language's role in bilingual education.
