Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT MSc Thesis EFFECT OF ALTERNATE ROW SPACING ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF SECOND CROP FOR SILAGE OF MAİZE (ZEA MAYS L.) Çağrı ŞAVK Bursa Uludag University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Field Crops Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Uğur BİLGİLİ In this study conducted in 2018 in Bursa ecological conditions, the effects of different row distances (70:70, 70:30, 85:35 and 65:40) on yield and yield components of second crop silage maize varieties (Colonia and DKC-7211) were investigated. According to the results of the research; statistical differences were found among varieties for cob height, leaf / stalk ratio, cob / plant ratio, cob ratio, green grass yield and dry matter yield. Colonia variety in terms of cob height, DKC-7211 variety in other parameters gave better results. Forage yields among varieties were 5761-5994 kg/da and DKC-7211 variety gave higher yields. Row distances did not have a significant effect on forage and dry matter yield. However, row spacing x cultivar interaction was found to be statistically significant in terms of dry matter yield, DKC-7211 variety x 70:30 interaction came to the fore. However, in order to make clearer results, this research should be carried out in Bursa ecological conditions for at least 2 years.
