Abstract (EN)

Geology and hydrogeology were investigated in the areas and surroundings of Balıklıova and Ildir villages. In the area and surrounding Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic aged formations are present. The basement of these units is formed by the Paleozoic aged graywackes. Above this Paleozoic aged formations the Mesozoic aged karstic carbonate limestone series overly unconformably. Karstic series are overlaid the Cenozoic aged volcanic formations unconformably and all this formations are covered by unconformity of alluvium. The graywackes which are impermeable acts as a hydraulic boundary for the underground drainage. The Triassic limestone is the recharge area for the Ildir and Gerence springs. Tectonic evolution of the area and the actions of dissolution and for the developments of groundwater are very effective for the development of karstification in the area. Polje and dolin formations are the main features caused by karstification in the area. Barboros, Kadıovacık and Oynatan polje are the features which are caused by the karstic developments of the Ildir springs. Effective faults in carbonate formation control the big karstic systems. Camiboğazı, Şaplaz and Zeytinler faults near Ildir form the important faults controlling the karstic development. The Ildir springs discharge from three different places. The average yield is 4951t/sec and the annual discharge is 18*106 m3/year. VIIThe chemical water analysis results of the springs and wells show that in this waters accurse a saline water intrusion. This saline water intrusion diminish from the sea side to the offshore. Results of chemical analysis of waters of the springs and wells show that there is saline water intrusions. The effect of saline water intrusion diminish away from the sea. Almost all of the observed springs are under the influence seawater in the coastal regions. Most important springs are Ildir and Gerence in the area. These springs are the important potential for the area around Çeşme and Balıklıova especially during the tourism season in order to supply water required for the increased need. It is known fact that there are still many unknown parameters in this area. On the other hand, a lot of establishments have been carrying out development projects in order to use these water resources in the future. However, in order to make effective an economic use of these resources for the sustainable development, recharge, discharge and reservoir properties should be investigated carefully, and the scientific principles must be applied for drilling of water wells to be used for the daily requirement.
