The Effect of the concept analysis method on the learning and permanance of the concepts of social sciences programme in the sixth ear of the primary education

Dr. Ahmet DOĞANAYSeptember 2006, 98 pagesIn this study, it is searched how the concept analysis and the traditional method effectthe learning and the permanance of the concepts of the unit ?Geography and Our Earth? in thesocial sciences programme during the sixth year primary education level.The study has been done in a formal primary school in Seyhan/Adana during the fallsemester in 2005-2006 academic year. There were 90 students in both testing group andcontrolled group. The study lasted for eight weeks. The classes in testing group have beentaught through the teaching plan based on the cocept analysis method. In the controlled group,the classes have been taught through the traditional method. Both the controlled and thetesting group have been given the concept Analysis Test as a pretest, final test and apermanent test. The co-variant analysis has been applied through the data obtained from pre-evaluation and final evaluation.The overall conclusions revealed from the statistics are, the concept analysis method ismoe effective than the traditional method during the process of getting the concepts of the unit?Geography and Our Earth? in the educational programme of social sciences. There is noimportant difference the grade avarages of the permanent test of the testing and the controlledgroup.Key Words: Concept, Concept Analysis, Traditional Method.
