Abstract (EN)
In this study, the reactions of the secondary school students aganist peer pressure and their refusal skills were investigated. Further, the refusal skills of secondary school students were examined gender level, family income level and parentel attitudes. The population of the study consisted of students from Çizmeci Primary School in Ankara. The sample of the study was composed of randomly selected 105 students which were at 6th, 7th and 8th grade level. The Refusal Skills Measure (RSM) was developed by the researcher and Personal information Form way used to collect data. The t- test was applied for pair groups to determine the differences in the mean scores of Refusal Skills Measure with regard to gender, grade level, academic achievement level, parentel attitudes and family income; for multiple groups, "F- test" (One way varyans analysis) was applied. Post hoc comparisons using "Scheffe Test" were also applied to idenfity the group differences. The significance level was at 0.05. The study revealed that the reactions of the secondary school students agaınıst peer pressure and their refusal skills show no differences as a function of their academic achievement level, parental attitudes and family income level. Students reactions against peer pressure were found significantly related to their gender. While female students refused peer pressure much more than male students, conformed to peer pressure. There were significant differences between students grade level and their reactions against peer pressure. As a result of the Scheffe Test, differences between 6th and 8th grades were found significant.
