Primary school students' attitudes towards religious culture and ethics course (Muğla province sample)

ABSTRACT The main purpose of this research is to examine the attitudes of primary school students towards the Religious Culture and Ethics course through the sample of Muğla province. For this purpose, student attitudes were compared within the scope of gender, grade level, mother's belief in the necessity of the DKAB course, father's belief in the necessity of the DKAB course, mother's education level, father's education level, the district of residence and whether this district is coastal or rural. Accordingly, it was decided to conduct the research in a survey model. The Personal Information Form developed by the researcher and the DKAB Lesson Attitude Scale developed by Özdemir and Çelik (2017) were used to collect the research data. Independent groups t test and ANOVA analyzes were used to analyze the data obtained in this process. At the end of the research, no significant results were obtained in the attitude levels of primary school students towards the DKAB course according to gender, father's education status and coastal-rural status of the district. However, according to the grade level, the score of the 5th grade students was found to be significantly higher than the 7th and 8th grade students. In addition, the score of the students whose mothers believed in the necessity of the DKAB course was found to be significantly higher than the students whose mothers did not believe and were undecided. In addition, the score of the students whose fathers believed in the necessity of the DKAB course was found to be significantly higher than the students whose fathers did not believe and were undecided. In addition, the total score and the interest and trust dimensions of the students whose mothers graduated from primary and secondary school were found to be significantly higher than the students whose mothers were illiterate. Finally, it was concluded that the score of the students studying in Kavaklıdere was significantly higher than the students studying in Yatagan.
