Abstract (EN)
In today?s globalizing world, together with the structure of the people and the society, the place and the role of schools in humans? lives are also changing. Within this perspective, nowadays, the schools must be regarded as not the instutions loading students with information but as the product of an effective system which prepares them according to the necessities of the real life. For this system to present more productive results, it must be planned, performed and directed in an effective way.This study was conducted to find out the impact of such variables as title, lengh of service, genre, age, level of graduation and major on 234 administrators and teachers?, who were working in the district of Çekmeköy in the city of İstanbul in 2011-2012 education year, ideas about the functionality of the meetings at primary schools. In the direction of this aim, a questionnaire prepared by the researcher and finalized by considering expert advice is used. Data gathered was analyzed by using SPSS 15 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences).When the results gathered at the end of the study were examined, administrators were found to think much more positively than teachers about the functionality of the meetings at primary schools. The participants who have longer period of service and are older were deducted to think much more positively about the preparation phase of the meetings at primary schools. Moreover, at the end of the evaluations carried out item by item, much more detailed results were gathered. In the light of these results, various proposals were presented.Key Words: Meeting, Functionality, Primary Schools
