The role of communication between teacher and parents in preventing in-class behavourial defects of secondary school students

This research was carried out in order to determine the role of communication between teacher and parent in preventing the in-class behavourial defects of secondary school students.Undesirable student behaviour is one of the most significant problems that teachers meet in the class. Teachers spend most of their time trying to find a way to cope with undesirable student behaviour. This negatively influences the class management on the matter of using the time efficiently. In order to overcome this problem, the reasons behind the undesirable student behaviour should be determined and proper solutions should be offered.Teacher-Parent communication is an important factor in preventing undesirable student behaviour. Thanks to teacher-parent communication, we can recognize the student with his or her good and bad, weak and strong qualities by showing the child that we acknowledge him or her with the way he or she is. We can also partially or completely solve some of the problems via communication by specifying the behaviour that need to be changed. On this matter, both parents and teachers have significiant duties.This study is considered to help teachers while preventing the undesirable manners, which is one of the most significant problems in the class.The environment of this research consists of the parents whose children attended the schools of Uskudar, Kadikoy and Umraniye in 2007-2008 educational year. The data has been obtained by the survey which was applied to 300 parents, who were chosen randomly among the parents in the research environment. SPSS statistical programme was used for the analysis of the data obtained from the test which was applied to the test subjects. Charts were created for the acquired discoveries, and the findings were thus interpreted.Key Words: Communication, Education, Parent, Behavioural Defects, Teacher
