Inverstigation of the usage of music in lessons other than music lessons in primary and secondary ducation institutions

This research examines the use of music in courses other than music lessons at primary, secondary and high school levels. The research is a descriptive research. In the research, which included the single screening model, one of the general screening models, a semi-structured interview form, which was finalized in line with expert opinions regarding content validity, was used as a data collection tool. The data collected in the interview form was evaluated through descriptive analysis. The study group of the research consists of 147 teachers working in branches other than music lessons in 9 different schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the 2022-2023 academic year. In non-music courses at primary, secondary and high school levels, teachers use music for various purposes such as "explaining the subject", "relaxation and motivation" and "attention" in their lessons, they make their students listen to music that is related to the subject and makes it easier to understand the subject, and they say that music provides lessons. It was concluded that they attach importance to the themes of "permanence of knowledge, attracting attention, motivation" regarding knowledge and skills and that the course that uses music most as a supportive teaching tool at the secondary school level is English, and at the high school level it is Turkish Language and Literature. In line with the results, suggestions were made for all participating classroom and branch teachers on how to integrate music into their lessons. As a result, this research emphasizes that the use of music in association with other courses has a positive impact on the education process and increases teaching and learning experiences.
