The relation between class management skills of classroom teachers and organizational culture: The case of Maltepe

This study aims to investigate the relation between class management skills of classroom teachers and organizational culture. The study was conducted with 294 teachers who work in 34 primary schools in Maltepe İstanbul. Survey model has been used in the study. Two scales have been used in 34 primary schools: Organizational Culture Scale developed by Kara (2006), and Scale for Classroom Management Skills developed by Tonbul (2002). 294 teachers have participated in the survey from these 34 primary schools. The results attested have been statistically analyzed in SPSS. The results of the study are as follows: Scale for Classroom Management Skills have not been found to show variations according to gender, class population, class level, marital status, being in admisitration and perceived level of income. Scale for Classroom Management Skills is in correlation with age (46 years and above). Professional seniority (for the benefit of 20 years and above) and professional seniority in the working place (for the benefit of 20 years and above) have shown significant differences. Scale for Classroom Management Skills have not been to show significant variation in terms of gender, class level, marital status, professional seniority in the working place, being in administration and perceived level of income. Scale for Classroom Management Skills have been found to show significant differences in terms of gender (in subdimensions such as role, success and support in favor of women), classroom population (in subdimensions such as role, success and support in favor of teachers teaching classes of 20 students or less), professional seniority (in subdimensions such as power and role in favor of teachers with 20-year-seniority or more). A significant difference has been discovered between Scale for Classroom Management Skills and subdimensions of Organizational Culture Scale such as power, role, success and support.
