Abstract (EN)
Liver is an organ which has important functions such as secretion, storage, phagocytosis, detoxification and metabolism and also materializes many chemical reactions to be alive. It damages many factors because of this important function. One of agents that make toxicity effect on liver is CCl4. CCl4 is the most preferable and is use to be similar cirrhosis evolution process although it can make up liver damage with so many agents in experimental studies. In this study it has been aimed that investigation protective effect of royal jelly (RJ) against toxicitation of CCl4 on liver. In in vivo experimental study, rats were divided into 6 groups; each of them includes 8 numbers. All groups by giving 0.4 CCl4+0.4 liquid oil every other day during 20 days except sham and 100 mg/kg RJ group, toxicity had made. While CCl4 group that had been made toxicity had not received any treatments, other 3 groups had received respectively 50, 100, 200 mg/kg RJ. At the end of the study, the level of Malondialdehyde (MDA) and reduced glutathione (GSH) had been analyzed in the whole blood and the level of vitamin C and sialic acid (SA) in the serum. According to results, while CCl4 toxicity in the level of MDA in the aspect of sham group caused increase in the groups that had been treated with RJ, this increase had been observed to be reduced (p<0.01). Also, the level of GSH had been assigned in CCl4 group the most (p<0.05). Moreover, it had been also observed that the CCl4 had increased the concentration of SA. It had been observed that while the CCl4 toxicity had decreased the level of vitamin C in the serum, the treatment with RJ had increased the vitamin C concentration (p<0.01).As a result, by the effect of CCl4 toxic, causes oxidative stress. The antioxidant activity of RJ was observed to have protective effect. Moreover this effect had reacted increase by the relation of concentration increase of RJ. It had been determined that RJ which had antioxidant effect against oxidative stress can be used in the treatments of liver diseases. At the same time in the results of study, SA is proved to be used as an important marker in the toxicity of CCl4.
