Abstract (EN)

This study aimed at investigating the level of stress and self efficacy levels of English instructors who work at the English Preparatory Schools of Universities in provincial and metropolitan universities. Two scales which consist of a demographic inventory; Stress Factors Questionnaire for English Language Instructors (Petek, 2008), English Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale (ETSES) (Chaco´n, 2005) were used. This data gathering instrument was implemented on 151 English instructors working at 7 universities in Turkey. Data gathered from 35 English instructors from Zonguldak Karaelmas University, 10 English instructors from Abant İzzet Baysal University .17 English instructors from Karabük University; 15 English instructors from Düzce University, 22 English instructors from Ege University, 32 English instructors from Yıldız Technical University, 20 English instructors from Gazi University. In analyzing the data SPSS.19 was used to find descriptive statistics and frequency, percent, average, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics. The results of the study revealed no significant differences in stress and self efficacy levels between instructors working at the English preparatory schools of Turkish state universities according to their gender, education level, or whether these universities are in metropolitan or provincial cities.
