İnvestigation of ivf treatment of İnhibin polyomorphism

Couples are considered to be infertile when they cannot become pregnant within one year of unprotected sex. Infertility can result in implantation failures and miscarriages. Assisted reproduction technologies (ART) are one of the options that can be applied to these patients. Prior to in vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycles, the ovarian reserve of the women and the number of follicules should be assessed. The gynecologist then can decide on the optimum stilmulation cycle. Several studies have been conducted to determine the number and quality of the oocytes that can be obtained from the women following the stimulation. Recent studies have proposed that serum inhibin B levels can be a good marker to determine the development of mature oocytes as well as the pregnancy rates. In this project, we aimed to investigate the possible correlation between INHIBIN β B (INHBB) gene rs57802235 polymorphism and the serum FSH level as well as the mature oocytes in the Turkish population. Infertile patients were selected randomly and 96% of these patients had G/G wild type alleles. The heterozygote mutant allele A/G was observed in 4% of the patients.
