Evaluation of factors that cause work accident in construction sector with multi-criteria decision making methods

Occupational accidents, which are frequently encountered in the construction sector, and the resulting injuries and deaths have made it necessary to investigate the causes of the accident and to find the main cause. In addition, the fact that the construction sector has a great place in the national economy necessitates the importance of occupational health and safety. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause occupational accidents in the construction sector and to find out the importance of these factors and to provide suggestions about the precautions to be taken. However, the comparison of the three companies operating in the construction sector in line with these factors is another objective of the thesis. In this study, the reasons of the accidents occurred in the construction sector were investigated and the reasons of the research were gathered under three main headings. Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods were used in order to find the importance of causes of occupational accidents and to compare firms the reasons. In the conclusion part of the thesis, the data obtained from the paired comparison surveys were analyzed by Fuzzy AHP method and the factors causing occupational accidents were weighted. In the light of the findings obtained from the said method, three firms operating in the construction sector were compared using the Fuzzy TOPSIS method.
