Abstract (EN)

IX ABSTRACT The aim of the thesis is to mention the role and importance of competencies used in human resources management. In the first part, the process from personnel management to human resources management is pointed out. Then the aim, importance, principles and functions of human resources management is stressed. After expressing the strategic importance of human resources management, the future of human resources in the process of change is described. The second, part of the thesis is about competencies and its relation with human resources management. After presenting the definition of competencies, the phases of implementing the competency models is described. Then the usage of competencies in the human resources functions and the role of competencies that connect those functions is mentioned. Finally the competencies that a human resources professional must possess is pointed out. In the third part of the thesis, a research took place. The aim of the research is to indicate the differences and similarities between the perceptions of human resources workers and other department workers in the context of human resources competencies. For gathering data, a questionnaire is used. After the analysis, a meaningful difference is found between the perceptions of two groups about the degree of the competencies that a human resources professional must possess.
