Abstract (EN)

VI ABSTRACT The potential of personnel in doing their job with an appropriate manner and expected level can be determined by performance evaluation. From the point of personnel the importance of performance evaluation emerges from individual desire to find out whether they are successful, appreciated and recognized. Especially expectation of being rewarded as a concequence of performance evaluation will motivate personnel to work more willingly. While the rewards to be granted to personnel is determined by performance evaluation, the measurement of job satisfaction shows whether the personnel reached their expectations. The personnel who met their own expectations have higher job satisfaction and inreturn this will contribute to the organization and to their self-development. The aim of this study is to examine whether performance evaluation in Human Resources Management affects job satisfaction. With this aim in mind, in the first chapter, the General Framework of HRM is discussed; in the second chapter, Performance Evaluation in HRM and in the third chapter the concept of Job Satisfaction and the relationship between Job Satisfaction and Performance Evaluation are examined. The fourth chapter, a survey study discusses the results of a survey which covered the workers of a glass company and aimed at determining the effect of performance evaluation on job satisfaction. The questions are organized into three sections. In the first section the demographic characteristics of the sample population is explored. The second section includes the Job Satisfaction Survey. In the third section of the survey, the questions inclined to finding out the attitudes of the personnel towards the application of performance evaluation in the organization. Likert Scale is used in the second and the third sections of the survey. SPSS 10.0 for Windows is used to analyze the data of the survey and to carry out frequency distribution, correlation and regression analysis. The results are interpreted in line with the literature research and the findings related to the effect of performance evaluation on job satisfaction.
