Abstract (EN)
Today, the words "Urban Transformation" have become a concept that almost everyone who wants to make a building, construction or home renovation has heard in some way. As can be seen in the study, the fact that this concept, which has more than one meaning, became a concept used by almost everyone, dates back to the date of the Gölcük and Düzce Earthquakes. With the loss of approximately 18,373 people under the rubble in 1999 with the severity of 7.2 and 7.4, it has been learned how dangerous unhealthy buildings are (Grand National Assembly of Turkey, 2010). After the disaster, the seriousness of the situation was reflected in the laws enacted. Thus, the transformation process of unhealthy buildings was made compulsory by various laws and laws. In the transformation process of buildings that were ultimately unhealthy or became unhealthy over time, it was aimed to accelerate the process with various incentives given to the owners of these buildings by the state. Considering Urban Transformation as a process; this process does not only cover residences; It includes the industrial areas as well as the buildings in all the cities along with the residences. As one of these areas, the transformation process of the Uşak Tannery Slum Prevention Zone, which is one of the old industrial areas in the province of Uşak, which was located outside the city at the time they were built, but remained in the center of the growing city over time, constitutes the subject of our thesis. Even today, the textile and tannery sector, which is the locomotive of the city's economy, had a unique atmosphere and human mobility in this area, before it was moved to the industrial zone outside the city. Today, there are public institutions, apartments, commercial areas and social reinforcement areas in place of the factory buildings in this area. In the first part of the study, information about the province of Uşak, tannery and textile business was given and the purpose and importance of the study were examined. In the second part, the concept of urban transformation and its legal dimensions, as well as information about the city of Uşak and the old tannery area are presented. In the third part of the thesis, the transformation process of the region and the interviews about the region were evaluated, the data obtained from the field studies about the current situation of the region were processed, and in the fourth part, suggestions were developed by giving place to the evaluations. We hope that this thesis will give a perspective to people living in cities, architects, all practitioners and managers involved in urban planning, for the transformation processes of cities and after.
