Abstract (EN)

Investigation of the prevalence of giardia infection in dogs in Çankırı municipality stray animals treatments and rehabilitation centers The objective of the present study was to investigate the prevalance of infection with Giardia parasite in stray dogs in Cankırı Municipality Stray Animals Treatment and Rehabilitation Center from February to April 2021. One hundred fresh samples were collceted from dogs of different ages and of both gender. In laboratory of parasitology, Veterinary Control Central Research Institute of Minister of Agriculture and Foresty, different traditional methods were used to diagnose of the parasite. ˙In addition, Giemsa dye and Trichrome dye were also used. The prevalence of infection by traditional methods was 43% in males and 57% in females. In the examination of pigments, the study showed that the rates of infection in young ages less than a year 71% and in ages between 1-3 years ranged between 25.8%, and at older ages, it ranged between 3.2%. .
