Abstract (EN)
This research objective was to evaluate renal dysfunction in patients with beta-thalassemia (major) between male and female and some other biochemical tests with normal mixed male and female without iron metabolism disorders or renal diseases served as a control group. This disease is considered a serious disease that poses great risks to the developed population of the country. The main goal was to explore the potential association that might exist renal failure between male and female in patients with beta-thalassemia (major) that they suffers from ferritin high levels concentration in their bodies that damages patients kidneys in addition to high levels of blood urea and serum creatinine. The results of the study indicated that there was a strong correlation between age and ferritin and K, Na, and Ca, as well as urea and creatinine, as they were considered diagnostic tests for the disease, while there was no association with the S.Uric acid test, and within the main tests in our research there was no any correlation between male and female with urea and creatinine and electrolytes in beta-thalassemia (major) patients , which indicates the possibility of using these tests in early diagnosis or even in the follow-up of patients who are believed to have kidney failure or follow-up of those already diagnosed with beta-thalassemia (major).
