Abstract (EN)

Almost every step of yarn production create tension on yarn. Although twisting is a necessary process for increasing the fiber retention and stength, it causes tension, which is an unintended side effect. This results in willingness of the yarn to spin on itself. The yarn get rid of these stresses which it subjected to and it gives opposite reaction againts rotation, which is described as yarn liveliness. This concept of liveness in yarn creates problems in many parts of production. It also causes spirality in the fabric, which is the next stage of yarn, especially in knitted fabric. Spirality is generally affected by features of the yarn such as count, twist and liveliness as well as by knitting machine parameters. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of yarn count and twist on the yarn liveliness based on the yarn spinning system. Furthermore, it was investigated whether there is a correlation between the spirality of fabrics which are obtained with this yarn specification. In this study, yarns were produced using 100% cotton materials, in five different spinning systems, taking two different twist coefficients into consideration, and in two yarn counts. The fabrics in single jersey construction have been produced, by using the yarns which are obtained previously. Keywords: twist liveliness, yarn snarling, spirality, single jersey fabric.
