Abstract (EN)

Iran had one of its brightest times in terms of art and architecture along with economic and political developments during the Seljuk period. During the mentioned period, the Iranian architecture, which is based on a deep-rooted and ancient tradition, added a different color to the Central Asian architectural tradition that came with the Turks. Thanks to this, a different tradition was formed under the name of Turkish – Iranian, and the mentioned tradition was carried to Anatolia along with the Turks. Together with the Seljuks, a new plan typology in mosque architecture in Iran, a four-sided plan scheme, has emerged and is still used in many states of the Islamic world in the field of mosque architecture. The main purpose of this research is to examine the mosques remaining from the Seljuk period in Iran. In line with this purpose determined in the research, a comprehensive literature review on the subject was carried out for the first time. The research, studies, documents and sources obtained as a result of the literature search carried out have been analyzed in detail. As a result of the analyses carried out, the 21 mosques dating from the Seljuk period identified in the study were examined in detail.
