Abstract (EN)

Due to the migration crisis experienced in our country as of 2015, efforts are being carried out by Turkey and international institutions to support individuals classified as immigrants in many aspects and to ensure they live in a manner worthy of human dignity. These efforts have become a multi-faceted field and sector encompassing the protection, shelter, social integration, and access to livelihoods of immigrants. The Turkish Red Crescent, due to the articles in its charter and being an international aid organization, conducts humanitarian aid operations both in Turkey and across borders in response to this migration crisis. One of these efforts, which is the subject of our study, is the business and occupational Turkish language training provided to immigrants to overcome language barriers to access livelihoods. The aim of this research is to include the business and occupational Turkish language training designed for immigrants by the Turkish Red Crescent and the data obtained from the language needs analysis survey presented to immigrants after the training. The survey, presented to 187 immigrants aged 18-60, aimed to identify their needs. The research was conducted using a screening model using easily accessible case sampling. The universe of the study was 19 center samples and 187 immigrants who could be reached from these centers.According to the research results, the biggest problems faced by immigrants in meeting their language learning needs are the necessity to work and the need to support the care of their children. Additionally, the adaptation issues they experience with the local population also hinder the development of their Turkish communication skills. The duration, content, cost, hours, and days of the Turkish courses provided at universities or public education centers lower the motivation and success of immigrants. Therefore, immigrants need functional Turkish language training related to the sector or job field they work in or wish to work in. There is a need for business and occupational Turkish language textbooks and materials that include sector or job-based dictionaries and Turkish texts in that context. This will shorten the duration of education, increase the student's motivation, and will be a significant step in developing a quick and practical Turkish teaching system. Developing a systematic language teaching practice for the migration crisis will facilitate the work of both state institutions and local people, as well as immigrant individuals.
